This winery’s dedication to world class quality is paralleled by their desire to achieve it sustainably. Following the principles of The Natural Step, they pursue environmentally friendly practices in all phases of their business. For example:
- They farm their estate vineyards organically and received full USDA organic certification in 2005 from Oregon Tilth.
- Their estate vineyards have been certified "green" by LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology, an international certification).
- They use 50% biodiesel in their farm tractors.
- Their underground barrel cellar, built to US Green Building Council standards, became the first winery in the country to earn the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
- They use unbleached paper products for labels, wine boxes and gift bags whenever possible.
About the wine…as luck would have it, 9 white varietals took a liking to each other to create a lush, off-dry, somewhat tropical wine with a crisp finish.
Fusion-style cuisines, dishes with a ginger/cilantro/mint/chili pepper focus are happy pairings to Lucky #9. Like your sushi with lots of wasabi? …#9 works here too.
